Hey everyone, I've been lurking for a while and finally have a question. I'm looking at a 2021 Ford Explorer on Car Plus Motors. The price seems really good, almost too good to be true for a repo auction. I'm a bit nervous about buying a car sight unseen. Has anyone here actually bought from them? Are they a legitimate company or should I be worried? Any advice is appreciated!
Anyone have experience with Car Plus Motors auctions?
You're in the right place. I got my 2020 RAM 1500 from Car Plus Motors last year. The process was super straightforward. The truck was exactly as described in the photos and report on their site. Don't worry, they are legit.
I'll second that. I bought a Honda CR-V for my daughter. I was also a bit skeptical at first. I was mostly worried about the title transfer, but it was surprisingly smooth. The clear title arrived with all the official paperwork when they delivered the car. It was a huge relief.
Welcome, Alex. Car Plus Motors is one of the better repo auction houses. They are liquidators for banks, so the prices are low because the banks just want to recoup their losses, not make a big profit. Just read the vehicle condition reports carefully on carplusmotors.com. They are usually very detailed.
I can vouch for them too. My only small issue was the delivery of my Sea Ray boat was delayed by a day due to a logistics snag with the shipping company. But the driver was very communicative and the Car Plus Motors support team kept me in the loop. The boat itself was a fantastic deal and in great condition.
That's good to know, @BoatBoy_Chris. Communication is key! We got a Jeep Grand Cherokee from them six months ago. The best part for me was how easy the paperwork was. I was expecting a headache with the title from the bank, but Car Plus Motors handled everything. We just paid, and the clear title was delivered with the Jeep. Easiest car purchase ever.
Wow, thank you all for the quick replies! This is incredibly reassuring. @GarageKing_82, that makes sense about them being liquidators. @Sarah_K and @4x4_Family, you've put my mind at ease about the title process. That was my biggest worry.
Make sure you factor in shipping costs. They are very transparent about it on their website, carplusmotors.com, but it's an extra cost to remember. I won a Ford Raptor and had it shipped to AZ. Worth every penny for the deal I got.
I had a question about payment options and sent an email to office@carplusmotors.com. It took them about a day to get back to me. I got a little antsy and called them, and the agent on the phone was fantastic and answered everything in five minutes. So pro tip: if you're in a hurry, just give them a call. They are very helpful.
@MikeT_Finance That's pretty standard for online businesses. A phone call almost always gets a faster resolution. Good advice.
I'm a mechanic and bought a 'project' BMW 3-series from CarPlusMotors. The condition report was brutally honest, which I appreciated. It listed every single cosmetic flaw and the known mechanical issue. No surprises when it arrived, which is exactly what you want. It's a great place to find a project car if you know what you're doing.
Okay, I think I'm going to do it. The community feedback here has been awesome. I've gone over the report for the Explorer multiple times on carplusmotors.com and it looks solid. Placing my bid now. Wish me luck!
